About Airrow Batik
Hi there! I’m Airlie, aka Airrow Batik LLC.
I’m a working batik artist, a lifelong student, and a Fairfax County native. I host batik workshops for the public out of my studio and micro-gallery in Falls Church, Virginia.
I accept custom orders.
The space is dynamic and designed to cultivate peace and prosperity in our community.
Batik parallels our actions on the material plane. Once the wax drips onto the fabric, it becomes a part of the design; there is no eraser, no rewind button. In a way, it allows us to celebrate the things that change and shape our path (even the mistakes) and to be dynamic in the drips and differences. This is divine timing. Create your pathway to peace.
Airrow Batik LLC Studio is open for shares and collaborations.

What is Batik?
Batik is an ancient art and method used to dye fabric, most well-known in Indonesia, where it was mastered during the 17th century. The batik process involves layering a resist material (usually liquid wax) and dye onto natural fabrics. Removing the wax resist from the fabric leaves a lasting pattern or design.
The word "batik" comes from the Javanese word "ambatik." "Tik," meaning to mark with spots or dots, broadly represents painting or drawing.
Batik is over 2,000 years old and has roots in five separate regions around the world, including the Far East, Middle East, Central Asia, India, and Peru. Batik became most refined in Indonesia, on the island of Java.
Polychrome batik refers to a piece that has multiple layers of dye and wax, whereas monochrome batik only has a single layer of dye and wax.
